Who am I?
Sensus Solum or Sensus Plenior?
Take the phrase:
I think therefore I am.
What does that mean?
Is it a phrase of self realizing consciousness? A proof of existence?
Or is it a statement of destiny? "As a man thinketh so is he."
Or is it a link to the divine? "I am who am."
Most people are taught from birth to think "sensus solum" which means "one meaning". This allows a group of people to define what that meaning is for us. However, free men are taught to think "sensus plenior" which means "multiple meanings". What this implies is that until we as a civilization start learning to think sensus plenior we will continue to lose our freedoms. Don't take my word for it. Go learn about this concept from Oliver Demille.
So I challenge you, "Who are you?" Are you defined by someone else? Are you told who you can become?
I would say the phrase: "I think therefore I am." means all of those things and more. It is up to the individual to decide who they are and who they become.
